See Me at WordCamp Brisbane 2025

From sites that work to systems that last—here’s what I’ll be sharing on stage

I’m excited to announce I’ll be speaking at WordCamp Brisbane 2025 this June!

It’s been a while since I’ve been part of the WordPress community speaking circuit, and I couldn’t think of a better way to return than with a talk that shares everything I’ve learned about building systems that don’t just launch—but actually last.

If you’re a freelancer, solo developer, or growing agency who’s ever found yourself saying, “We built it fast—but now it’s hard to update,” this talk is for you.

The Talk

Most WordPress sites work—but they don’t always last.
They go live looking great. But six months later, updating them is a nightmare. You’re fighting technical debt, content chaos, and questions like:

“Can I do that here too?”
“Why does this layout work on one page but not the other?”

This talk is about how to break that cycle—without slowing down.

What I’ll Cover

In this session, I’ll walk through:

  • Why maintainability, technical debt, and content debt are all connected
  • The key moments that shaped how I build WordPress today
  • What a sustainable system actually looks like (with real architecture examples)
  • A live demo of our modular content system using ACF Rows, Cards, and Merge logic
  • Practical takeaways you can start using tomorrow

Whether you’re solo or scaling, the goal is the same: build smarter, not just faster.

A Glimpse at What I Mean by “Sustainable Systems”

If you’re wondering what this looks like in practice, here’s a quick example.

I recently presented at WP Engine’s DE{CODE} 2025, where I demoed how we use ACF-based Rows and Cards to build modular content layouts—combined with Merge Blocks that dynamically inject post data into structured templates.

That demo shows a small piece of the puzzle. At WordCamp, I’ll walk you through the full journey: how we got here, the tradeoffs we made, and what we’ve learned about building for scale.

See You There?

If you’re coming to WordCamp Brisbane, I’d love to connect—especially if you’re interested in WordPress architecture, content design, or the intersection of technical and editorial UX.

Come say hi during contributor day, after the talk, or wherever the hallway track takes us. Let’s talk systems.
