Featured Talk: Building Sustainable WordPress Systems at DE{CODE} 2025
In March 2025, I had the privilege of presenting at WP Engine’s DE{CODE} – a global developer conference focused on the future of WordPress, performance, and platform architecture.
My session focused on something that’s been shaping our entire approach at AlphaSys: how to move from building sites that work to architecting systems that last.
Too often, developers are pushed to “just get it live”—but we’ve learned that speed alone isn’t enough. To truly serve clients (and keep our sanity), we need systems that reduce technical debt, empower content creators, and evolve over time without rework.
In this talk, I shared how we use:
- ACF-based Rows and Cards for modular content reuse
- Merge blocks to inject content dynamically
- Structured post types and relationships to eliminate layout chaos
- Product thinking to serve many while customising for the few
If you’ve ever struggled with maintainability, client handovers, or scalability in WordPress—this one’s for you.
